August
2010
Dear Current and Past KC Sport Speed Customers:
I want to take this opportunity to inform you of
some changes that have taken place at KC Sport
Speed (KCSS) over the past month and provide new
information for those interested in speed and agility
training this fall.
First, we announced last month that KCSS managing
director, Matt Cyphers, had resigned effective
July 30. Matt accepted a position at Stormont Vail
Hospital in Topeka as an athletic trainer serving
a number of high school sports programs in that
area. Obviously, we hated to see Matt leave, but
wished him well in his new position, and appreciated
his many years of leading the sports performance
and training services at KCSS.
Secondly, beginning in August, we began a transition
with our training services as we made plans for
continuing our programs after Matt departed. We
arranged for new trainers, Paul Sterrett and Tony
Turner, to take over the sessions that Matt would
have been running in August. Some of you may have
had one of them at your sessions this month. Both
are personal fitness trainers and have the professional
training and background to work with our training
participants.
The transition through August also has included
a decision to cease operations at KCSS. Our current
lease at All-American Indoor Sports Center terminates
at the end of August and we will not be renewing
it. Beginning in September, we will begin assisting
the GABL Academy, a program of the GABL Youth Sports
Foundation, Inc. and a 501-C-3 nonprofit organization,
in hopefully establishing programs to improve speed,
agility and strength of young athletes. If successful,
we anticipate that some time in September, the
Academy will begin scheduling training sessions
at area school facilities. These sessions will
be led by former KCSS trainers and we will be referring
those interested in these type of services to the
Academy’s programs.
Thanks for your patience during this transitional
time period. Once the final decisions on the Academy’s
programs have been made, you will be notified.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact
Brett Hunter, SMA managing director of sports operations,
at 913/236-8311.
Sincerely,
Richard D. Hunter
